Vehicle Details

The BAIC B30 is a rugged yet modern compact SUV poised to stand out in South Africa’s adventurous vehicle segment. Drifting between the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage in size—with a length of just over 4,700 mm and a 2,820 mm wheelbase—this boxy crossover rides on a monocoque chassis, offering a commanding presence and a respectable 215 mm ground clearance that’s ready for off-road challenges.

It’s available in both petrol and hybrid variants. The petrol model features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, delivering around 138 kW (approximately 305 Nm) paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid “B30e” ups the ante, combining the same engine with electric motors to generate an impressive combined output of up to 301 kW and 685 Nm, with brisk 0–100 km/h acceleration (about 6.9 seconds).

Inside, the cabin is tech-forward and spacious. A large 10.25-inch digital cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen—powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip—dominate the dash, offering modern interfaces and advanced hybrid control. The B30 also shines in practicality—fold-flat rear seats create up to 1,496 liters of cargo space, transforming it into a versatile adventure companion.

For added confidence on and off the road, the B30 includes a suite of ADAS features such as 360° camera systems, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and autonomous emergency braking (in hybrid models).

Projected to be priced from approximately ZAR 550,000 for the petrol model, with the hybrid 4×4 variant reaching up to ZAR 700,000, the BAIC B30 promises value-packed performance and tech-savvy appeal for the discerning South African driver.
